# Fee Schedule

Card tiers no longer have signup fees or annual fees. Qualification is based on [$BASED lockup](/docs/based/staking.md). See the [Card Types](/docs/card/card-types.md) page for a detailed comparison.

| Swap fee: crypto to fiat      | 1%     |

### Foreign Currency Markup by Tier

| HYPE         | 1.5%      |
| Based Gold   | 0%        |

**Smart convert** applies automatically when your card balance asset falls below the required transaction amount.

**Swap fees** apply within the card UI and do not apply to the self-custodial Polygon wallet.

**Pro-tip:** To avoid the 1% Smart Convert fee, keep a balance of USD stablecoins (USDC, USDT, XSGD) in your card account — stablecoins are always spent first.

**Minimum Spending Clause:** If a card remains inactive for **6 months**, a maintenance fee of **$5 per month** will be charged until the deposit reaches $0, at which point the card will be terminated.
